SUPPORTED LIVING

Your home. Your choices. The right support.

WJM Social Care Ltd is developing supported-living services for adults aged 18–65 who need personal care and support while maintaining as much independence, choice and control as possible.

REGISTRATION STATUS

CQC application status: WJM Social Care Ltd is currently applying to the Care Quality Commission for registration to provide the regulated activity of Personal Care. Regulated personal-care services will not commence until registration has been granted.

What Supported Living Means

Support that respects ordinary home life.

Supported living is designed to help people live in their own home environment while receiving the level of care and support identified through assessment.

The aim is not to create an institutional environment. People should be supported to make everyday choices, maintain relationships, take part in community life and develop or retain daily-living skills wherever possible.

Support may include

Housing and Care — Housing and care are separate arrangements

In supported living, a person's housing rights are separate from the agreement governing their personal care and support.

WJM Social Care Ltd provides assessed care and support. Housing matters such as tenancy rights, rent, repairs and landlord responsibilities are managed separately under the relevant housing arrangements.

Why this matters

Supported living should preserve the person's rights as someone living in their own home rather than making their housing dependent on everyday care decisions.

Who We Support — within WJM's current service scope

01 Mild Learning Disabilities

Support that promotes daily-living skills, independence, choice and community participation.

02 Mild Physical Disabilities

Support with personal care and everyday activities where needs remain within WJM's competence and staffing model.

03 Mild Mental-Health Support Needs

Support with everyday routines, wellbeing, confidence and independence alongside appropriate professionals where required.

Person-Centred Support — Doing with, not doing for

Wherever it is safe and appropriate, staff will support people to do as much as possible for themselves rather than taking over tasks unnecessarily.

Support should help people build confidence, maintain existing abilities and develop new skills at their own pace.

We aim to promote

Before Support Begins — Every referral is individually assessed

Before accepting a supported-living referral, WJM will consider whether the person's needs can be met safely and appropriately.

Service Boundaries — We only accept support we can provide safely

WJM may decline or refer a person to another provider where their needs require specialist skills, clinical interventions, staffing or risk-management arrangements outside WJM's current competence or service model.

WJM is not currently presenting itself as a specialist autism provider, nursing service, secure service or specialist provider for severe or highly complex mental-health or behavioural needs.
